What went well?

I think I chose my interview subjects really well, there's a great variety of opinions and they all had something interesting to say about my chosen subject. Glen as a games designer had a lot of knowledge and enthusiasm to bring to the project his expertise brought the level of the whole project up. I think using my logo from a previous project made the documentary more professional and branded it as my own work.

Technology

The technology was a difficult part of the project to plan for, wifi problems and Microsoft Teams versus Zoom produced different results. As Coronavirus restrictions have continued to lift, I was able to do one of my interviews in person but even with this interview I needed Jeff over Zoom to interpret. I was able to edit a lot of the glitches out of the interviews but this was a challenge to do.  I think that in the future I would save up and buy a different laptop or use the ones at college because my laptop was too slow, it crashed many times and made the editing process really difficult.

Logistics

Needing three people per interview was a bit more complicated than normal as I needed to get all three people together and online. While editing the result there was a lot going on and I needed to be careful not to overcrowd or confuse people while making the finished documentary accessible to everyone.

Developments over the project

As I was going through the editing process My hearing family really noticed how different Ben's interview was because it was silent. I decided that this was a good thing because the documentary is supposed to make you think about how sound changes a gaming experience. I also realised how hard it is to cut down all the film footage into one documentary, I had so much more I could have added!

What could be better?

I have learnt a lot about how to develop a documentary and now that I have gone through the process, I think that I could have structured the questions in a more conversational way to add variety to the Documentary. Trying to find a more consistent way to mange my sound would have also ben good because getting the sound at the same levels across the documentary has been really difficult.
